Player Ratings Update: Week 1
See how performances from superstars like Derwin James and Aaron Rodgers have affected their Madden Ratings.
Madden NFL 22

The 2021 NFL season got underway this past weekend, and the action did not disappoint. The Las Vegas Raiders won in overtime in an instant classic on Monday night. The reigning Super Bowl champions, led by the GOAT Tom Brady, defeated the Dallas Cowboys with a last minute drive.
Epic runs, crazy catches, and incredible plays abounded all over the NFL during Week 1. And the Madden NFL 22 Ratings Performance Adjustor team is working hard to tweak, refine, and polish ratings across the league based on those IRL performances.
As always, you can access the full Madden NFL 22 Player Ratings Database HERE to see all of this week’s Ratings Updates and more.
Let’s take a closer look at some key Ratings Updates as we look ahead to Week 2.
Week 1: Who’s Up
Jameis Winston | QB | New Orleans Saints
Jameis Winston gave Saints fans a lot to cheer about in the team’s season opener on Sunday. Winston threw five touchdown passes and not a single interception in a blowout victory over the Green Bay Packers. It’s an encouraging start for Winston and the Saints, and the Ratings Adjustors agree, giving the quarterback a +2 OVR heading into Week 2.
Derwin James | SS | Los Angeles Chargers
Already a top-10 SS in Madden NFL 22, Derwin James missed the entire 2020 season with a knee injury. But in his Week 1 return, James was a difference-maker as he collected seven total tackles and added one pass deflection. If he can be consistent with this level of play, James may see his OVR continue to rise as the season plays out.
Chandler Jones | LOLB | Arizona Cardinals
Chandler Jones went absolutely nuts in Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans, the veteran outside linebacker racked up five sacks and two forced fumbles in a 38-13 win. Jones is already the second-highest rated LOLB in Madden NFL 22 and he’s now just a single OVR point from being tied with Khalil Mack at 96 OVR.
Let’s go! I’m about to play right now and see if it really went up! Lol https://t.co/GK8ffqmEMp

Week 1: Who’s Down
Aaron Rodgers | QB | Green Bay Packers
It was a rough start to the season for reigning NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers. He went 15 for 28 with just 133 yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions in a loss to the New Orleans Saints. After the disappointing game, the Madden Ratings Adjustor team is blasting Rodgers’ OVR minus one point.
Anthony Brown | CB | Dallas Cowboys
Anthony Brown had himself a bad night in the Thursday night NFL kickoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Madden NFL 22 cover star Tom Brady picked on Brown early and had success, so he kept it up. Brown was targeted 10 times, and allowed nine receptions for 134 yards and a touchdown. He also missed three tackles per PFF, so his OVR is taking a minus two point hit.
Taylor Lewan | LT | Tennessee Titans
On the other side of Chandler Jones’ big day, was Taylor Lewan. Lewan, in his first game back from a Week 6 ACL tear last year, caught the unfortunate side of this matchup. Lewan was pretty much man-handled the entire game by Jones, and took accountability on social media.
