How to Enhance Your Routes with Custom Stemming

Transform how your routes beat zone coverage with a technique called custom stemming. To custom stem a route, follow these steps:

• Press Triangle (or Y) and select your receiver.
• Hold the Left Bumper.
• Use the left stick or D-pad to adjust the route's depth.

Some of the best routes to custom stem are posts, corners, ins, and outs. However, not all routes can be stemmed, so be mindful of which ones you choose.

A practical application of this technique is adjusting a post route to go over deep zones or stem it down to go under them. Similarly, you can modify corner routes: stem them up to bypass flat zones or stem them down to maneuver beneath and outside deep zones.
