Today's beta opt-in update to the Origin client introduces several community-requested fixes, including a reduced CPU load—something many Battlefield 3 fans have asked for—and an improved DLC download experience.
The 8.6 update brings the first of several changes to the Origin friends list: the hovercard. To see it in action, simply mouse over a friend’s name. If they’ve opted to show their real name (you can change this setting from your profile), their username will roll up to reveal it. This feature works both in-client and in-game.
We also want to thank you for all of the great feedback and suggestions you’ve given us over the last week. While this update can’t implement all of your suggestions at once, we will continue to work on them in future releases.
Please note: The initial release of 8.6 is a beta opt-in. If you would like to download the beta version of the client (and opt in to future beta releases), you will need to turn on that option in your settings. Here's how:
1. Launch the Origin client and log in to your account.
2. Click on the gear icon and select "Settings.".
3. On the General tab, check "Update to the pre-release version if available."
