Battlefield x Dead Space Event Guide: A New Nightmare

October 20, 2026

Something is wrong at Area 51.

Pax Armata forces arrived expecting to secure classified technology. Instead, they uncovered one of the base's darkest secrets: a Marker secretly housed within the facility.

Within days, reports began pouring in. Soldiers described violent hallucinations, strange symbols appearing across the base, and entire units turning on one another.

For years, the Marker remained hidden within Area 51. It wasn't dormant. It was waiting.

Starting October 20, Dead Space arrives in Battlefield 6 with Dead Space: Convergence, a limited-time Halloween event built around a non-canon "what if" scenario that brings the two universes together. Players will step into Marker Incursion, a new 16-player PvE experience where squads battle through corrupted territory, destroy Marker Shrines, and race to stop the Marker’s influence before it triggers a catastrophic event known as Convergence.

Consider this your official briefing on the nightmare unfolding in Dead Space: Convergence.

A Brief History of Battlefield and Dead Space

Battlefield and Dead Space have been crossing paths for years.

Players discovered Isaac Clarke's Advanced Suit helmet hidden in Battlefield 3's Aftermath expansion. Battlefield Hardline, developed by the original creators of Dead Space at Visceral Games, included references to the franchise throughout both multiplayer and campaign. More recently, Battlefield 2042 brought Dead Space directly into the action with the Outbreak event and a collection of themed rewards.

Dead Space: Convergence builds on that shared history by bringing the world and horrors of Dead Space directly to the battlefield.

What Is Dead Space: Convergence?

To understand what's happening at Area 51, you first need to understand the artifact at the center of it all.

In the Dead Space universe, Markers are mysterious artifacts that emit a signal capable of affecting both technology and the human mind. Prolonged exposure causes hallucinations, paranoia, violent behavior, and an obsessive need to recreate the Marker itself.

After one of these artifacts was uncovered at Area 51, its influence began spreading beyond the facility. Soldiers have fallen under its control. Shrines are appearing across military installations. Entire combat zones are being consumed by fear and madness.

That fight takes shape in Marker Incursion, a new PvE experience where squads of 16 players push into corrupted territories, battle waves of hostile forces, and track the source of the disturbance.

What Was Hidden At Area 51?

A soldier in the iconic Dead Space helmet prepares for battle in a dark cavern. Backed by his squad, he faces horrific Necromorphs emerging from the shadows.

Hidden within Area 51, the artifact remained isolated from the outside world for decades. When Pax Armata forces attempted to seize the technology stored within the base, they awakened something they didn't understand.

The Marker’s signal pulses outwards, distorting reality and driving those affected toward violence and obsession. Some cover themselves and their equipment with strange symbols. Others construct Marker Shrines and defend them with fanatical devotion. Many can no longer distinguish friend from foe.

Military leaders fear these events are building toward something worse: Convergence, a catastrophic event that threatens all life. To stop it, squads must locate and destroy the Markers before their influence spreads any further.

Inside Marker Incursion

A dynamic close-up of a soldier in a Dead Space helmet during a chaotic fight. He holds a custom rifle while a squadmate is attacked by a blade-wielding monster.

The deeper you move into corrupted territory, the harder the fight becomes.

The most common threat comes from Marked Soldiers, former military personnel who have fallen under the Marker's influence. They see the battlefield differently, treating allies as enemies and defending the source of their obsession at any cost.

As squads advance, they'll also encounter Marker Shrines, smaller replicas built by those affected by the signal. These structures strengthen the Marker’s hold on an area and attract additional resistance. Destroying them is key to maintaining momentum and weakening the Marker's influence over the area.

Survive the fighting, destroy the Shrines, and push toward the source. Along the way, you'll earn Semiconductors, a limited-time event currency awarded for eliminating Marked Soldiers and completing event challenges. Every mission leads to the same objective: stop Convergence before the situation becomes irreversible.

Wield the DS-23 Pulse Rifle

Few weapons are more closely associated with Dead Space than the DS-23 Pulse Rifle.

Available as a Battle Pickup during Marker Incursion, the DS-23 Pulse Rifle makes its Battlefield debut during the event. Longtime Dead Space fans will immediately recognize its unmistakable design and high rate of fire.

For the duration of Dead Space: Convergence, players can also find the weapon in Battle Royale and Rapid Royale.

Earn Dead Space-Inspired Rewards

Completing event challenges is only part of the hunt.

Throughout Dead Space: Convergence, players can earn Semiconductors, a limited-time event currency awarded through event challenges, eliminating Marked Soldiers in Marker Incursion, and discovering them throughout Battle Royale and Rapid Royale.

Spend Semiconductors to unlock a range of Dead Space-inspired rewards, including:

  • Aegis VII Soldier Skin
  • RIG-Certified SMG Weapon Skin
  • Dead Space Weapon Stickers
  • Soldier Patches
  • Player Card Backgrounds
  • Additional Event Rewards
  • Dead Space-Themed Store Bundles

Headlining the rewards is the Aegis VII Soldier Skin, inspired by the industrial engineering suits that became synonymous with the Dead Space series.

There's more to discover than rewards, too. Strange transmissions, hidden references, and pieces of environmental storytelling are scattered throughout the event.

End the Convergence

An apocalyptic desert vista dominated by the massive Dead Space Marker. It fires a red beam into a yellow sky as a fleshy alien corruption overruns the landscape.

The corruption is spreading.

Marker Shrines are appearing across the battlefield. More soldiers are falling under the Marker’s influence. And with every passing operation, the threat of Convergence grows.

Starting October 20, deploy into corrupted territory, destroy the source of its influence, and stop the Marker before Convergence begins.
