The first-ever winner of The Ultimate Fighter, competing just before Forrest Griffin at the TUF 1 finale, Diego “Nightmare” Sanchez dispatched Kenny Florian with relative ease. This was the start of a 32-fight UFC run that saw Sanchez contend for a title, land in the UFC Hall of Fame, and cement his place as a legend of the sport.

After losing to Urijah Faber at WEC 26, Dominick Cruz would regroup, drop to bantamweight, and kickstart a legacy by winning seven straight fights on the blue canvas. He would eventually capture the 135lb title and defend it twice, including at the WEC’s monumental final event, before dominating in the UFC.

A blistering six-fight win streak in the UFC’s light heavyweight division was Dominick Reyes’ ticket to standing across the Octagon from divisional GOAT Jon Jones. Reyes proved himself worthy, losing a close decision in a gritty, back-and-forth affair many thought he won.

If you’re going to shoot on Edson Barboza, you had best be careful. Beneil Dariush found out the hard way when a telegraphed takedown attempt was intercepted by a brutal Barboza jumping knee that sent him crashing to the canvas for the KO finish.

Forrest Griffin didn’t just win season one of The Ultimate Fighter; the legendary barnburner he put on with the late Stephan Bonnar in the finals is a hall-of-fame-worthy fight. Even after four years away, up a weight class, and fighting for the title in The World’s Most Famous Arena, Georges St. Pierre wouldn’t be swayed or denied.
