TJ’s Top Five: MUT Superlatives
Let’s get corny, folks. It’s time for my MUT Awards! Here are my favorite MUT cards, high school yearbook-style.
The Best OG: Charlie Joiner. After that performance in the Ultimate Madden Bowl, how can he not be?! Well, I guess if you’re Wes. Shoutout to Wes though, man’s a beast. This Joiner item, rocking its 97 speed and all, is a total and utter W.
Most Likely to Break Your Recliner: Trent Brown. Six-foot-eight, three hundred eighty pounds of pure blocking menace. This 96 OVR Team of The Year item boasts a 96 strength and a 67 speed which is surprisingly high for the largest item in the game.
Most Likely to Win You a Bar Fight: Christian Okoye. This item, man… I want absolutely no part of 6’1, 253 with a 95 speed and 93 strength running full steam ahead at me. Okoye’s career was tragically cut short due to injuries, I speak for more than myself when I say I’d have loved to see a fully-healthy Okoye for a career. However, I’d also love to see this MUT item if I got myself into a sticky situation.
Class Clown: Calvin Johnson. Nope, not the WR item, the 95 OVR free safety. This Megatron item is the class clown because a WR is going to make you look silly with his defense. Six-foot-five, strong, fast, great coverage and tackling abilities make this an easy choice.
PB&J: Ronde and Tiki Barber. Who else did you expect? The 97 OVR Ronde Barber item might be the best CB in MUT and the 96 Tiki item ain’t too shabby either. I do give the nod to Ronde here, but when paired together you’re squad’s looking mightyy Barbertastic.
Most Likely to Need a MUT Item: Alge Crumpler. Who else did you think I would say? Sure, he snagged one in MUT 20 but it’s time for a revamp! For your entertainment, here’s a picture of yours truly with the REAL Alge Crumpler in 2010. What can I say? He’s been my favorite player since I started watching football.
MUT Community GOAT: This is a double award here going to RG and Rocketz. These guys grind year-round to keep their finger on the pulse of the MUT Community. Both legends stepped in and delivered a killer guest Top Five this season and I’m already looking forward to their return to this section of the newsletter. RG is the king of Good Morning Madden and Rocketz built and maintains a dang fine website in MUT.gg that we’re all on more than we’d like to admit.
Favorite Item: Cordarrelle Patterson. As a Falcons fan, there hasn’t been a ton to warrant excitement over the last few years. This season, however, CP gave fans something to look forward to week in and week out, regardless of the Falcons’ record or score of the game. His electricity was done plenty justice in MUT with this unreal 96 OVR Team of The Year card.
