BLOOD MONEY: SEIZE OR STEAL

Lately we’ve been talking about Heist and Hotwire a lot, as those were the new modes in the recent Beta, but today I am going to talk about another one of the team’s favorite new modes from the first Beta; Blood Money. For those who don’t know, or don’t remember, Blood Money is a mode where there is one pile of money in the middle of the map and a Vault for each team on their side of the map. Players are trying to take the money and fill their vault while stopping the other team from doing the same.

Opening the Game

When a Blood Money game starts neither team has any money in their vault so the focus is the main money pile. It’s important to try and lock this down early if you can. It takes a while for players to grab the maximum amount of money but the pickup time gets faster as more people grab money at the same time. So, get a whole squad grabbing money at the same time and your money bags will be full in no time. While players are grabbing the money you should have both short range and long range guys covering them as the other team is trying for the same objective. Early on it’s also nice to drop a Satellite Phone near the main Money Pile so you can quickly spawn near the cash if you are killed. Once your team has the loot, get it back to your vault. While you’re there drop a Sabotage on the Money Pile, it’s good fun for the other team.

Defending

Once the game has opened up and your team has a little money in your Vault your focus becomes split. You still need to get more money to win but the other team can now steal the money from your Vault, in addition to the main Money Pile. It’s going to be important to have some defensive coverage at the Vault and there are a number of ways this can be achieved. First off, it’s good to assign a few people to do nothing but stay near the Vault and defend that money. Drop a hidden Satellite Phone nearby for quick respawns. Laser Tripmines, Breaching Charges, and Gas Grenades around the Vault are a good way to slow down the other team.

Turning the Tide

Sometimes just holding your Vault and taking money from the center Money Pile isn’t enough to win. The other team may have been more successful at controlling the center Money Pile and have more cash in their Vault. This is the time to attack their Vault and swing the game. Careful though, they’ve probably got some defense going, so bring some serious firepower. Gas Grenades and Molotovs/Incendiaries are great for a Vault attack, force the other team to move then take them out. If you clear out the area and manage to steal from their Vault be quick about it, they’ll be respawning and returning to defend their cash.

There are many ways to play the mode and lots of different strategies and loadouts can be effective. We can’t wait to see what you guys come up with in this mode, I’m sure we’ll see some crazy games of Blood Money. See you guys March 17th.
