Competitive Battlefield REDSEC Returns: Cash Cups, Elite/Open Series, and Rapid Royale

September 8, 2026

TABLE OF CONTENTS:

Starting this September, there's more at stake and more to play for in Battlefield REDSEC.

It's all there when the final circle collapses, when ammunition and health are running low, and every split-second decision could lead to a cascade of consequences. It's there in the rivalries formed between contentious squads. In the clutch revive that keeps a run alive. In the pulse-pounding final firefight that decides a win or loss.

Whether you're looking to test yourself in your first tournament, compete against the best players in your region, or follow the road to crowning the next Elite Series champions, there's plenty to look forward to in the months ahead.

  • Dates: October 24 - November 21, 2026
  • Regions: APAC, EMEA, and the Americas
  • Format: Three two-day regional Cups followed by a 24-team Match Point Format Open Series Final
  • Teams: Up to 384 teams per Cup in each region
  • Prize: Top-performing teams will qualify for the upcoming Elite Series

The Open Series is designed to be a starting point, a proving ground for those looking to break into the Elite Series. It gives squads across APAC, EMEA, and the Americas a chance to show up and show out in tournament play and earn a spot in the Elite Series.

This runs from October 24 through November 21 and is operated through Battlefy. Teams can register for any Open Series Event they wish to compete in, with separate registration required for each event.

The season features three Open Series Events, each played across two days. Every Event begins with up to 384 teams per region and unfolds across multiple rounds of Battle Royale competition. Teams compete in 24-team lobbies, with the top 12 advancing from each round until only the strongest squads remain.

The top 4 teams from each Open Series Event automatically qualify for the Open Series Final. They'll be joined by the highest-ranked teams on the overall Open Series leaderboard, creating a final field of 24 teams in each region. Teams earn Open Series Points based on their performance in each event, creating a season-long race for qualification.

It all leads to the Open Series Final, where the region's best squads battle for a place in the upcoming Elite Series. The Open Series Final will use a Match Point format, where every decision can make the difference between moving on and going home.

Dedicated qualification spots will be available in each region:

  • Americas: 15 Elite Series slots
  • EMEA: 15 Elite Series slots
  • APAC: 24 Elite Series slots

Registration for the Open Series opens in early October. If you're looking to take the next step and compete for a place among Battlefield's best, this is your time to rise in the ranks.

Open Series Schedule

  • Open Series Event #1: Saturday, October 24 - Sunday, October 25, 2026
  • Open Series Event #2: Saturday, October 31 - Sunday, November 1, 2026
  • Open Series Event #3: Saturday, November 7 - Sunday, November 8, 2026
  • Open Series Final: Saturday, November 21, 2026

Elite Series Returns in Season 5 With Over $1.3M USD in Prizing

A red background, with 4 silhouetted soldiers standing behind a large logo stating "Battlefield REDSEC Elite Series".

  • Dates: December 4, 2026 - January 16, 2027
  • Regions: APAC, EMEA, and the Americas
  • Teams: 48 teams per region
  • Format: Six regular-season match days followed by a Match Point Format Season Finals
  • Prize Pool: $1,338,000 USD globally, with $446,000 USD per region

The Elite Series represents the highest level of Battlefield REDSEC competition. It brings together some of the top squads in REDSEC, including returning teams from the original Elite Series and new challengers who earn their place through the Open Series.

This season, the Elite Series will feature a $1,338,000 USD global prize pool, with $446,000 USD awarded in each region across APAC, EMEA, and the Americas.

Season 5 also introduces several changes aimed at creating a more focused competitive experience.

When the Elite Series was first announced, competition featured both Battle Royale and Gauntlet. Since then, we've listened to player feedback and taken a closer look at how those modes perform in a competitive environment. Because they play so differently from one another, we've decided to focus the Elite Series entirely on Battle Royale.

Competition begins with 48 teams per region, including returning Elite Series teams and squads that qualify through the Open Series. To support a true round robin format, teams will be divided into four groups of 12, with competition taking place in 24-team lobbies throughout the season.

On each Match Day, groups are paired together to create two lobbies. For example:

Match Day #1

  • Group A vs. Group B
  • Group C vs. Group D

Match Day #2

  • Group A vs. Group C
  • Group B vs. Group D

Reducing lobby sizes from 25 teams to 24 allows us to split the field evenly and ensure teams are matched against a variety of opponents throughout the season. Across six regular-season Match Days, squads will earn points while battling to stay in contention and secure their place among the top teams in their region.

At the conclusion of the regular season, the top 24 teams in each region advance to their respective Season Final.

The Season Finals will use a Match Point format, creating a high-stakes finish where a single victory can change everything. There won't be one global champion. Instead, the Elite Series will crown three regional champions: one in APAC, one in EMEA, and one in the Americas.

Throughout the season, competitors will stream their matches live, allowing fans to follow their favorite players, squads, and storylines as they unfold. When the season reaches its conclusion, the action moves to the Season Finals broadcasts, where each region's champion will be crowned.

Elite Series Schedule

  • Match Day #1: Friday, December 4, 2026
  • Match Day #2: Saturday, December 5, 2026
  • Match Day #3: Friday, December 18, 2026
  • Match Day #4: Saturday, December 19, 2026
  • Match Day #5: Friday, January 8, 2027
  • Match Day #6: Saturday, January 9, 2027
  • Season Finals Broadcasts: Saturday, January 16, 2027
    • APAC: 5:00 PM SGT
    • EMEA: 6:00 PM GMT
    • Americas: 3:00 PM PT

Once again, the Elite Series will feature a total prize pool of over $1.3M USD, distributed evenly across APAC, EMEA, and the Americas. Additional details on broadcast coverage will be shared closer to the start of the season.

Looking Beyond the Competition

Competition may be returning in a big way, but that's only part of what's ahead for Battlefield REDSEC. As we head into Season 5, we're continuing to expand the experience with new ways to play, new features to experiment with, and new opportunities for players to create iconic Battlefield moments.

Introducing Rapid Royale

Soldiers run along a street as massive explosions erupt overhead, with parachutes descending around an illuminated “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign.

Coming in Season 5, Rapid Royale is a new variant of Battle Royale built around faster matches, more frequent engagements, and less time spent searching for the next fight. Built on the same foundation as REDSEC Battle Royale, Rapid Royale turns up the pace with reduced player counts, smaller play spaces, faster-moving circles, and shorter match lengths.

Whether you're looking for a quicker way to jump into the action or simply want a different way to experience Battle Royale, Rapid Royale offers a new and innovative way to deploy into Battlefield REDSEC.

We'll have more to share as we get closer to Season 5.

Proximity Chat Lands on September 15

Soldiers fight through rubble as multiple explosions and fires erupt around them, filling the battlefield with smoke, sparks, and debris.

Starting September 15, you'll be hearing a lot more from the squads around you.

The first iteration of Proximity Chat arrives on September 15 and will initially be available in Battle Royale.

Proximity Chat creates new opportunities for unexpected encounters and player-driven moments that can completely change the outcome of a match. A tense standoff in the final circle? Last-minute negotiations before bullets start flying? How about…all of the above.

As always, we're eager to hear your feedback. We'll continue evaluating audio range, clarity, moderation tools, and the overall impact Proximity Chat has on gameplay as we refine the feature and explore what's next.

More details will be shared closer to launch.

The Future of Battlefield REDSEC

Armed soldiers in tactical gear skydive over a battlefield as helicopters fly nearby and explosions light up the horizon, showcasing an intense combat drop scene.

This is the biggest moment in Battlefield REDSEC since launch.

Competitive Battlefield is returning with more opportunities than ever to play, watch, and compete. Cash Cups open the door. The Open Series gives squads a clear route forward. The Elite Series raises the stakes higher than ever before, bringing together top squads and rising challengers from across APAC, EMEA, and the Americas.

Beyond the competition, Season 5 introduces new ways to experience Battlefield REDSEC, with Rapid Royale, Proximity Chat, and more still to come.

Whether you're dropping in for your next match, entering your first tournament, following your favorite creators, or fighting for a place among the best teams in your region, the months ahead are packed with opportunities to jump into the action.
