Time to fight for survival.

Hunter / Prey, the third update for Season 2 of Battlefield 6 and REDSEC, is available now.

In the late stages of Season 2, the battle escalates as NATO fights to regain control of its crucial satellite defense network from Pax Armata, and the combat pushes into the mountainside wilderness. Dig into a Battle Pass Bonus Path stocked with gear to endure the hostile environment, and wage war across both Contaminated and Hagental Base in the new Operation Augur limited-time mode.

For more technical information about the Hunter / Prey Update, see our Update notes here.

Central to this update is the new Bonus Path, available from Hunter / Prey’s launch date (April 14) to April 28 (at 12:00 p.m. UTC, 4 a.m. PDT).

The Hunter / Prey Bonus Path can be completed on day one or over its full two weeks of availability. There will still be another set of Weekly Challenges for the Bonus Path’s second week, as well as additional challenges to unlock rewards like a new Weapon Package. However, when the Hunter / Prey Bonus Path launches, nothing is stopping you from getting that free Serrated Blade, and all other rewards for free and for Battle Pass owners, in the first week.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Hunter / Prey Bonus Path, additional challenges launching later in the season, and more:

Become the ultimate hunter through the Hunter / Prey Bonus Path.

Earn Bonus Path Points to unlock 11 Tiers of free rewards, including the new functional Serrated Blade melee weapon, as well as additional items available for Battle Pass owners, including the lethal “Cold Blooded” PSR Sniper Rifle Weapon Package and the “Insectile” Soldier Skin for Recon Class lifers.

TIER Bonus Path Points Required Free / Available with Battle Pass Item Name - Item Type

In addition to the Serrated Blade, a deadly melee tool with nasty takedown moves, this Bonus Path’s highlight is arguably the “Cold Blooded” PSR Sniper Rifle Weapon Package.

Perfectly set up for an operator with a target in sight and ice in their veins, this Primary Weapon is pre-equipped with a suppressor, grip pod, and a variable optic. Fully loaded, the “Cold Blooded” is great for striking from the shadows at all distances; although going for longshots is preferred, the low-magnification end of the included optic is great for mid-distance sniping.

Get More With the Season 2 Battle Pass

In addition to the gaining access to the full Hunter / Prey Bonus Path - specifically, the five Tiers available to Season 2 Battle Pass owners - the Season 2 Battle Pass also includes access to over 100 Tiers of content, a 10% Progression Boost across Career, Hardware, and Battle Pass XP, and additional benefits such as six instant unlock rewards.

You can also upgrade to Battlefield Pro for Season 2, which ups that 10% Progression Boost to 15%, includes even more instant rewards, grants 25 Battle Pass Tier Skips along with access to the full Battle Pass for the season, and more features like the BF Pro in-game radio station.

Refer to our full Season 2 Battle Pass guide for more information about all 100+ Tiers of content, as well as additional perks for being a BF Pro owner for the season.

How to Complete the Hunter / Prey Bonus Path

The Hunter / Prey Bonus Path can be completed concurrently alongside the Season 2 Battle Pass. In other words, you do not need to choose to make progress between a Season 2 Battle Pass Path and the Hunter / Prey Bonus Path.

Each Bonus Path Tier requires 10 Bonus Path Points to unlock, which means you need to earn 110 Bonus Path points to complete the Bonus Path. Bonus Path Points can be earned in one of two ways:

WEEKLY CHALLENGES award Bonus Path Points; specifically, during the weeks that the Bonus Path is live, those week’s Weekly Challenges will award both Battle Pass Point and Bonus Path Points. For Nightfall, the first and second set of Weekly Challenges will count towards the Bonus Path while it is active.

The amount of Points earned varies by challenge: for example, an easier Weekly Challenge - e.g. completing a handful of Multiplayer Matches - typically awards the least amount of Points,  while the hardest Weekly Challenges - such as winning a handful of Multiplayer Matches - typically award the most amount of Points compared to all other Challenges. Bonus Weekly Challenges, unlocked after completing seven Weekly Challenges before the new set is released, reward the most Points and are usually around medium difficulty, making them the most efficient way to earn points.

HUNTER / PREY EVENT CHALLENGES also reward Hunter / Prey Bonus Path Points; these are objectives themed around this update’s new experiences.

Additional Event Challenges are available for BF Pro owners; the Points earned in these can add up to over a single Tier in the Bonus Path. While you can easily complete the Hunter / Prey Bonus Path through the standard Event Challenges and the Weekly Challenges, being a BF Pro owner has these additional challenges alongside other benefits such as 25 Battle Pass Tier Skips, a larger progression boost, and more.

Additional Free Challenges - Unlock the “Corroder” B36A4 Weapon Package and More

During the second week of Hunter / Prey, expect three additional challenges where you can unlock the “Corroder” Weapon Package for the B36A4 Assault Rifle, the “Rotor Split” Vehicle Skin for the Transport Helicopter, and the “Grizzled Grit” Weapon Charm.

That “Corroder” B36A4 Weapon Package is built to eat through everything in your line of sight; although there are a good number of Attachment Points still open on this weapon, it still includes a clear optic, Tungsten Core ammunition, and a suppressor to help this Assault Rifle fully lean into its all-rounded effective nature. A reliable damage dealer out to about 75 meters, don’t hesitate to break through cover with its solid rate of fire and tameable recoil.

Be the Hunter, Not Prey, with New Bundles

Round out your loadouts with a rotating selection of new Store Bundles, starting with the “Toxin Patrol” bundle dropping at the launch of Hunter / Prey. Kit for experts at navigating the jungle and threatening those they meet along the way, this bundle focuses on new soldier skins for Pax Armata and includes other items with some deadly drip.

Later in the season, you can expect the following Bundles to be spotlighted in the Store:

The “Hardheaded” Bundle is a loadout for the stubborn soldier who will complete any task, no matter what stands in their way. The “Swarming Assault” Bundle can allow you to attack from all sides, overwhelm the defenses, and secure the objective. And the “War Weaver” Bundle will help you fill your web with a showcase of deadly arms, each one ready to snare your squad's victory.

Top Five Battlefield 6 and REDSEC Hunter / Prey Event Tips

  1. TAKE YOUR TIME OR HURRY UP. The choice is yours: space out your sessions across the two weeks around your schedule off the Battlefield, or if you want to knock everything out in one week, prioritize smart Weekly Challenge rerolls and stacking with Event Challenges.
  2. SQUADS HUNT TOGETHER. Especially around challenges that deal with “squad damage,” party up with friends to track down those objectives (and earn extra XP just for playing together).
  3. STAY CLOSE, KEEP YOUR HEAD. For headshot-related challenges, try weapons with closer effective ranges - like SMGs and Shotguns - and prioritize positioning on the side or behind enemies. This is also a way to knock out any close-range elimination related challenges, too.
  4. REMEMBER YOUR GADGETS. Weapons alone do not make a Loadout. When it comes to Gadget-related challenges, take time to watch the Gadget tutorial videos in the Loadout, and make it a point to use them where appropriate.
  5. ORDERS THROUGH OPERATIONS. Some Event Challenges focus around Operation Augur; focus your first few sessions on that mode first, which can also lead to other challenge progress as you play (and if you’re not sure how to succeed in an Operation, read our other guide here).
