EverFi Partnership and Play to Learn

In partnership with EverFi, Electronic Arts co-developed a cloud-based education course called “Play to Learn” to bring STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) ideas to life as they would be applied on a Game Design Team. Since the 2016-17 school year, Play to Learn has reached 38,000 students from 360 unique schools in EA’s North American hubs and has plans to expand into Europe.

Learners are immersed in a game design team using best practices in software development. Through the lens of a game producer, learners are asked to problem solve, apply and use tools to get work done, and to make decisions within defined limitations. Students reported significant increases in knowledge and interest around these topics – even among students who were not initially thinking about a career in a STEAM field.
