THE ROAD TO THE MADDEN BOWL STARTS HERE: INTRODUCING MCS 27
An eight-player Pro League, three Open Qualifiers, four qualification paths, and $750,000 USD in prize money.
The EA SPORTS™ Madden NFL 27 Championship Series (MCS) presented by USAA returns for its 12th season with a new competitive structure built to make the road to the Madden Bowl clearer, more open, and more meaningful from the first snap of the season to the final whistle.
MCS 27 combines open competition and a new eight-player Pro League, both leading into a 14-player Madden Bowl. The season begins with the MCS Pro League Qualifier on August 22, 2026, and culminates with the 14-player Madden Bowl from February 9–11, 2027.
The MCS Pro League will bring together eight top competitors for a season-long battle to become the inaugural MCS Pro League Champion, with the top four earning spots in the Madden Bowl. The top two finishers from the MCS 26 Madden Bowl and the top two remaining players from the final MCS 26 Points leaderboard will be invited directly to compete, with the remaining four spots filled out through the MCS Pro League Qualifier.
Alongside the MCS Pro League, three MCS Open Qualifiers will each award one direct Madden Bowl spot. Players will also earn MCS Points based on final placement, with the top six on the MCS Points Leaderboard who have not already qualified also earning a spot in the Madden Bowl after the final Open Qualifier.
Finally, the Last Chance Qualifier will be open to players who haven’t yet qualified for the Madden Bowl, giving one last opportunity for the winner to earn a spot in our Championship.
All MCS competitions will be played using the Madden Ultimate Team (MUT) game mode, and players can compete on PC, PlayStation®5, and Xbox Series X|S. In-game MCS competition matches will be played in the USAA stadium, highlighting the brand's title sponsorship of this year's program.
Throughout the season, players will compete for $750,000 USD in prize money. They can reach the Madden Bowl through four distinct qualification paths: Pro League performance, an Open Qualifier victory, cumulative MCS Points, or the Last Chance Qualifier. This gives aspiring players more opportunities to earn a shot at becoming the MCS 27 Champion.

MCS PRO LEAGUE: QUALIFIER
The road to the first-ever MCS Pro League begins with open competition.
The MCS Pro League Qualifier is an online, open-registration competition for players who have not already been invited to the Pro League. Players will first compete across four days of ladder play, after which the top 256 players will advance to a double-elimination bracket.
When the bracket concludes, the final four players will earn places in the eight-player MCS Pro League.

MCS PRO LEAGUE
The new MCS Pro League is the competitive heartbeat of MCS 27.
Eight elite players will compete in a single round-robin regular season, with every match shaping the playoff race and helping rivalries develop across the season. Four players will be invited to the Pro League based on MCS 26 performance, while the remaining four will earn their places through the open MCS Pro League Qualifier.
The invited field will consist of the top two finishers from the MCS 26 Madden Bowl and the top two remaining players from the final MCS 26 Points leaderboard.
Each regular-season match is worth more than a position in the standings: the winner of every Pro League regular-season match will also earn a $1,000 USD match-win prize. These 28 match-win prizes are included in the total $200,000 USD Pro League prize pool.

Each of the final three regular-season broadcasts will begin with an Open Qualifier Final before transitioning to seven Pro League matches.
At the end of the regular season, the top four players in the standings will advance to the Pro League Playoffs. All four Playoff participants will qualify directly for the Madden Bowl, with the Playoff results determining Madden Bowl Seeds 1–4. The four Pro League competitors who do not advance to the Playoffs will have another chance to compete in the LCQ.
The MCS will continue its longstanding relationship with Full Sail University, which will serve as the home of the season’s live competition.
MCS OPEN QUALIFIERS
Running alongside the Pro League are three open-registration competitions that offer MCS players multiple paths to the Madden Bowl.
Every Open Qualifier will award:
- One direct Madden Bowl qualification slot to the winner
- A $50,000 USD prize pool ($150,000 USD total across all Open Qualifiers)
- MCS Points based on final placement
- Travel and accommodations to an in-person Final between the top two players, held at Full Sail University
How each Open Qualifier works:
1. Ladder Stage
Players compete in an online ladder powered by Challengermode. Players must complete at least eight matches to be ranked on the event’s leaderboard.
At the end of the Ladder Stage, up to 544 players will advance to the Elimination Stage.
2. Elimination Stage
In the Elimination Stage, players ranked 33–544 enter a 512-player, single-elimination bracket on Day 1, where the final 32 players from the bracket advance to Day 2.
On Day 2, the 32 players advancing from Day 1 join the top 32 players from the Ladder Stage in a 64-player, single-elimination bracket, and play continues until two players remain.
3. Open Qualifier Final
The final two players travel to Full Sail University to compete during the next Pro League broadcast, and the winner earns a direct Madden Bowl slot.

MCS POINTS
Winning an Open Qualifier is not the only way to reach the Madden Bowl.
Players will earn MCS Points based on their placement in each of the three Open Qualifiers. Following the conclusion of the MCS Open Qualifier: Zero Chill, the six highest-ranked players who have not already qualified through the Pro League or an Open Qualifier victory will earn Madden Bowl invites.
MCS Points are earned exclusively through the three Open Qualifiers. The Pro League Qualifier, Pro League, and Last Chance Qualifier do not award MCS Points.
The final MCS Points leaderboard will lock following the conclusion of the last Open Qualifier on December 15, 2026.
LAST CHANCE QUALIFIER
The Last Chance Qualifier is the final opportunity of the MCS 27 season to earn a place in the Madden Bowl.
The LCQ is open to eligible players who have not already qualified for the Madden Bowl. It begins with an open online ladder and concludes with a 128-player double-elimination bracket.
Players finishing fifth through eighth in the Pro League who have not already qualified for the Madden Bowl will receive the highest available seeds in the LCQ double-elimination bracket.
The last player standing will earn the 14th and final spot in the Madden Bowl.

MADDEN BOWL
The MCS 27 season culminates with the Madden Bowl, where 14 of the world’s best Madden players will meet to compete in a single-elimination bracket for $400,000 USD and the title of MCS 27 Champion.
The Madden Bowl will take place February 9–11, 2027, at Full Sail University in Orlando, FL.
Four Ways to Reach the Madden Bowl
The new Pro League is the competitive centerpiece of MCS 27, but open competition remains the foundation of the program. The 14-player Madden Bowl field will be assembled through the following qualification paths:

COMPETE IN THE MCS AND EARN IN-GAME REWARDS
Competitors can earn one EA SPORTS Madden NFL 27 MUT Pack for participating in each eligible MCS 27 event in which they play at least one game.
Players may earn a maximum of one MUT Pack per eligible event and five MUT Packs across the MCS 27 season.
Instructions for claiming each reward will be sent to each player’s Challengermode inbox after each event.
