After an up-and-down start to her UFC career, Alexa Grasso moved up to Flyweight and put together an impressive four-fight win streak. However, she was still a sizeable underdog heading into her title fight against champion Valentina Shevchenko. Grasso would send the oddsmakers reeling with a dramatic fourth-round submission victory to claim the belt.

Before establishing himself as an all-time MMA great in the UFC, Anderson Silva cut his teeth everywhere from Shooto to… Meca World Vale Tudo. In 2003, PRIDE was Silva’s biggest stage to date, and at PRIDE 25: Body Blow, he made his biggest statement by KOing former UFC champ Carlos Newton.

With a career that stretches back to the ‘90s, Andrei Arlovski has seen and done it all. That includes capturing the UFC interim and undisputed heavyweight title in 2005. And like his moniker, “The Pitbull” is still fighting at the highest level to this day.

Heading into UFC 202, former welterweight Anthony “Rumble” Johnson had become one of light heavyweight’s most fearsome KO artists. He’d live up to that reputation, starching former title challenger (and future champion) Glover Texeira in just 13 seconds.

It was the kick heard around the world. At WEC 53, in the final round of the main event of the promotion’s last-ever fight card, Anthony “Showtime” Pettis closed things out with a bang. After running along the cage wall, he jumped, kicked, and dropped defending champion Benson Henderson, a move reminiscent of “a ninja,” the late Stephen Bonnar would exclaim on the call. That all-time highlight secured Pettis the round and the belt.

A sensation in PRIDE and a champion through and through, Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira added a UFC interim heavyweight belt to his collection with a guillotine of former champ Tim Sylvia at UFC 81.

Following a contentious draw in their previous matchup, Brandon Moreno took the judges out of the equation, submitting fierce rival Deiveson Figueiredo to take the Flyweight belt. This was the duo’s second collision in an incredible and rare tetralogy of title fights.

You can never count Brian Ortega out. After struggling to break through Volkanovski’s defenses for much of their encounter, Ortega snatched a nasty guillotine choke that turned the champ’s head bright red before he managed a stunning escape. It was a valiant effort from the challenger, even in defeat.

Score: settled. At UFC 166, Heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez once again dominated the heavy-handed Junior dos Santos to win their third meeting and claim victory in one of the sport’s most iconic rubber matches.

As fearsome a fighter as his nickname would suggest, “The Natural Born Killer” Carlos Condit has authored some of the most memorable performances in MMA history. Before stepping into the Octagon, he made his name in the WEC and served as its last reigning welterweight champion, dispatching Hiromitsu Miura to defend his title a third time at WEC 35.

When WEC middleweight champion Paulo Filho missed weight, his bout against Chael Sonnen was deemed a non-title affair. Sonnen would go on to win, avenging a previous loss to the champ, but with no gold to show for it. In an act of contrition, Filho would mail his belt to the man who bested him.
