Today, we have a special version of the Gridiron Notes lined up that we are sure will set the tone for the Halloween season this year. What are the makings of a monster in the NFL?
Some players are feared for their speed, others for their raw power, and even more loom over the gridiron with their size alone. The Most Feared teams know how to bring all these elements together… with their mad scientist experimenting until he finds a truly frightening winning formula:

Most Feared, one of Madden Ultimate Team’s signature Programs, returns from October 15 (1:30 p.m. ET) until the Thursday after Halloween on November 5 (1:30 p.m. ET). As first revealed on a special evening Good Morning Madden, this annual celebration of the game’s scariest athletes has plenty of treats for the MUT Community to enjoy: Monster and Mad Scientist Player Items, a Trick or Treat CPU and H2H House Rules Events, Solo Challenges, Evos, and more around creating a truly monster roster.
These frights also go beyond Madden NFL 27: expect Most Feared to haunt Madden Mobile and plenty of treats for Twitch viewers through the Most Feared stream, Open Directory, and Drops.
The chilling stories of past and present are now part of this year in MUT, so read on to learn more… if you dare.
How to Survive Most Feared
Central to Most Feared are new Player Items that will be added into the pool of available items for Madden Ultimate Team Packs (see in-game for individual pack probabilities), in addition to several other Players that can be earned through completing Events, exchanging limited-time Candy currency in the Candy store, or one for just simply logging into MUT during Most Feared.
Who Are the Most Feared?
Most Feared Player Items can be broken down into five types: four distinct factions of Monsters and the Mad Scientists. Each Monster faction chemistry offers attribute boosts around their fearsome archetype; add more Monsters of the same faction to your active roster for additional boosts. The Mad Scientist Player Items, meanwhile, are Motivators that offer even more attribute bonuses to all Monsters in a specific Faction.
Here’s all the factions for this year’s Most Feared:
Undead: Scary Strong. Known for bullying the opposition with their relentless strength. Think of Chicago Bears Offensive Tackle Darnell Wright, whose feats of strength as a strongside lineman are the definition of Scary Strong. These player items will receive +3 Strength & +1 Kickpower which will change to +1 Strength on November 5th.
Ghosts: Scary Fast. Known for ethereal speed on either side of the ball. The Welcome Pack Player Item, Za’Darius Smith, is an example of a Ghost thanks to his real-life ability to move through offensive lines like a spectre. These player items will receive +1 Speed which will change to +1 Acceleration on November 5th.
Skeletons: Scary Tall. Known for bone-chilling height that’s among the tallest for their position group. Think 6’ 7” and above players like Indianapolis Colts Defensive Tackle DeForest Buckner. These player items will receive +1 Height which will change +1 Jump on November 5th
Scary Good. A unique Monster faction, Scary Good represents the monsters with frightening intangibles exclusively for LTD Player Items. These player items will receive the benefits of all 3 factions!
Mad Scientists: Motivators. Every monster has a mad scientist behind them: these Player Items have a Motivator Chemistry that grants additional attribute boosts to Monsters in one of the three base factions (Undead, Ghosts, or Skeletons). At launch, Marshawn Lynch will arrive as a Mad Scientist Player Item. His real-life legendary Beast Mode runs that threw defenses into the dirt translates into a Motivator Chemistry in MUT.
As All Hallow’s Eve draws near, more strength is given to those Most Feared… Expect temporary bonuses to Most Feared Player Items on Halloween weekend. More to come there!
How Does Candy Work?
Central to Most Feared - and Halloween in general - is Candy.
Candy is back in Most Feared! Candy can be used in the Candy store and by spending Candy, you also gain XP in the Pumpkin Pass. The Pumpkin Pass will grant a single reward on 10/31 based on how much Candy you've spent before then.
Earn Candy through Challenges, Events, and more opportunities throughout Most Feared, then exchange this Limited-Time Currency in the Most Feared Candy Store for Packs and Candy Bar Upgrade Items.
When the Most Feared Program ends on November 12th, 2026, unspent Candy is automatically converted into Coins.
What Are Candy Bar Upgrade Items?
Separate to Candy, Candy Bar Upgrade Items are used to grant eligible Most Feared Player Items additional ability buckets, as well as further attribute boosts on Halloween weekend.
After using a Candy Bar Upgrade Item on an eligible Player Item, that Player Item will receive a temporary Ability Point discount on a specific Ability. This discount will expire November 5th, 2026.
Most Feared Field Pass

One major source of Candy as you brave the Most Feared Program is in the Most Feared Field Pass. Complete Objectives such as playing with Most Feared Player Items, earning Stars in Most Feared Challenges, winning Events matches, or completing Program sets to earn XP towards this Field Pass.
In the Free Pass alone, you can earn up to 8,000 Candy, multiple Candy Bar Upgrade Items, BND Most Feared Player Packs, a Most Feared Spooky Pack, and a special Chemistry Evo.
Upgrade to the Premium Pass for 1,000 Madden Points to instantly receive an Platinum 80+ OVR Player Pack as well as the opportunity to earn more rewards, including up to 8,700 Candy (16,700 Candy combined across Free and Premium Passes), additional BND Most Feared Player Packs, a Most Feared Scary Pack, and a Most Feared Spooky Pack.
The Pumpkin Pass is back! In addition to the Most Feared Field Pass, this pass will grant every player a Pumpkin Pack, which contains a Most Feared Player Item, just for participating in this program. Spend Candy in the Most Feared Candy Store to level up the Pumpkin Pass and the Pumpkin Pack reward; higher level Pumpkin Packs are more likely to award a higher quality Player Item being selected from the pool of available Player Items.

Ready to conquer the Most Feared Program? Good; log into Madden Ultimate Team before November 5 to receive the Most Feared Welcome Pack, which contains one Player Item to get your collection of Monsters and Mad Scientists started:
Veteran MUT community members may recall a certain Most Feared 90 OVR Green Bay Packers LOLB (Left Outside Linebacker) from Madden NFL 20. In fact, he later received a Team of the Year Player Item for his first Pro Bowl honor, which he would repeat twice more over the next three years.
His name is Za’Darius Smith, now classified as a LEDG (Left Edge) for the Atlanta Falcons, and he is your Most Feared Welcome Pack Player Item. Striking fear into opposing quarterbacks with his monstrous bull rushes and power moves, Smith is back in MUT as an 81 OVR Most Feared Player Item after he returned from retirement following this offseason. In addition to his Ghosts Most Feared Chemistry, his Team Chemistry can be changed from his current Falcons to the six other teams he played for during his career.
Use the Candy Bar Upgrade Items which are earned from the Candy Store, Field Pass, and Completing Challenges, to raise his attributes to 89 OVR without any additional Evolutions.
Events: Trick or Treat!

Go door-to-door around the MUT neighborhood in this Trick or Treat CPU Event.
Defeat the monsters inside each house to earn a Pack with a key to the next door and Candy Quicksell Items. Clear all houses weekly to earn an exclusive Most Feared Player Item reward like Denver Broncos Fullback Adam Prentice (Undead), the first weekly reward from the Trick or Treat event.
Every week, new doors open, so like real trick-or-treating, there’s no need to hit the same houses again after you receive their goodies. Come back weekly and pace yourself through these challenging games against the CPU to earn more rewards, especially a new Player Item reward for clearing all houses…
Most Feared H2H
Need to strike fear into fellow MUT community members outside of Ranked and other H2H modes?
The Most Feared H2H event has one Haunted House Rule enabled: First downs are 20 yards instead of 10. The H2H event has three tiers of play, two on three minute quarters and a third with four minute quarters on All-Madden Competitive difficulty. See in-game for more details about individual rules for each event version, including any Coin cost for entry.
Most Feared EVOs
Upgrade your roster and dial in your lineup synergies throughout the Most Feared program with Evo items. Reaching Level 7 on the free Most Feared Field Pass unlocks the Most Feared EVO, allowing you to boost any 80–84 OVR Most Feared player up to an 85 OVR using Skill Points earned from program objectives. This upgrade also removes the player's default 1x Scary Chem bucket and replaces it with a flexible slot offering your choice of any of the three Scary Chem factions.
Premium EVOs
For additional upgrades, the Most Feared Store features two Premium Evos available for 300 Points or 35,500 Coins each. The first mirrors the Field Pass version, taking an 80–84 OVR item up to an 85 OVR with the flexible 3-choice Scary Chem bucket.
The second, the Monster Chem Swap EVO, targets the 86 through 89 OVR player items, swapping out their locked 1x Scary Chem bucket for a choice of any of the three Scary Chems without altering their overall rating.
Challenges: Monster Research and Story of the Scientists
Get a closer look at the Monsters and Mad Scientists of Most Feared through new Solo Challenges.
Uncover the history of a family of mad scientists and ghost hunters that research monsters (Undead, Ghosts, and Skeletons). Some scientists study these monsters and enhance their physical capabilities to create Most Feared Monsters on the gridiron. Critical to their experiments is the Most Feared stadium itself: The arena’s floodlight towers act as giant tesla coils, the turf is grown over an ancient burial site, and the roar of 80,000 fans provides the energy needed to power the laboratory and manifest supernatural entities.
Complete all Solo Challenges during Most Feared to obtain more Candy, BND Most Feared Player Packs, Candy Bar Upgrade Items, and a Challenge-exclusive Most Feared Upgradeable Scientist Player Item who will be earnable in Release 2.
Expect an initial sequence of 20 challenges to drop at launch with two more sequences to be released during Most Feared.
Most Feared Sets
Exchange lower OVR Player Items from your team for Most Feared Player Items all the way up to an 89 OVR Most Feared Champion Fantasy Pack. The Fantasy Pack reward for all Most Feared Sets contain one Most Feared Player Item of your choice, which can then be used on your team, be traded on the Auction House, or saved for another Set.

Expect another Set that requires a Marshawn Lynch Crossover Token for you to use. When you redeem this set, you will receive a BND Marshawn Lynch Player item in College Football 27 Ultimate Team to add to your Nightmares Lineup. NAVIGATE THE 121-NODE MAZE MAP. Plot a route through the grid to clear mini-bosses, chests, and the main boss efficiently. Prioritize high-value stops to optimize daily token and point gains.
MASTER BOTANICAL BREW CRAFTING. Collect 7 Botanical Elements to craft 38 recipes. Unlocking brews through Botanist tiers grants items needed for Iconic and Mythic players.
ALIGN SCENARIO PLANNER DECISIONS. Make tactical narrative choices to build faction standing with the Groundskeeper, Botanist, Warden, or Steward to unlock top-tier rewards and Ghost Milestones.
LOG IN ON OCTOBER 31 FOR THE HALLOWEEN SURGE. Claim a free +75 approval boost across all factions on Halloween to bypass grind thresholds and instantly unlock milestone rewards.
TARGET CAPTAINS AND MYTHIC BOOSTS. Unlock Program Captains early for fast-track trades. Most Feared Mythic players offer powerful roster boosts through late November for long-term value.
