Congratulations BioWare On Star Wars: The Old Republic

Yesterday, EA/BioWare launched Star Wars: The Old Republic – a game that will stand as one of the greatest and most ambitious achievements in EA history.

Beyond the critical and commercial success, this game represents an enormous career milestone for the team that made it. Led by Dr. Ray Muzyka and Dr. Greg Zeschuk, the talented team at BioWare began this project with a great vision and a plan to recruit an army of engineers, designers, artists, lighters, scriptwriters and voice-over talent. Several years and millions of man-hours later, they have released an unparalleled artistic achievement.

It’s very early, but our online tracking suggests fans are loving Star Wars: The Old Republic. Some who preordered the game were allowed to begin playing up to eight days before the launch. Here’s what we’re seeing so far:

  • Players have already logged 28 million hours in the game – roughly equivalent to watching all six Star Wars movies, one million times.
  • Players averaged well over five hours a day playing the game.
  • More than 3.8 million characters were created, including 510,000 Jedi Knights and 550,000 Sith Warriors.
  • 56 percent chose the Empire – 44 percent chose the Republic.
  • More than 2 billion non-player characters were killed in eight days of gameplay.

We’re extraordinarily proud of the game and every one of the people responsible for creating, launching and now maintaining it. We know this is a game that people will play for many years to come.

Congrats. Now when EA starts authorizing payments, maybe the rest of us players could finally manage to download it?

I like the game, but the customer service line is very very slow to being not there at all it leaves you on hold for days with a very large phone bill. All i want to do is reset those annoying security questions to add a security key that i got with my CE version of the game so please please disable those security questions so i can activate my security key

First let me say that EA, you have traveled eons from the days when I played Adventure Construction Set on the C64 and Apple IIc. At that time the possibility of a game like SW:TOR was pure science fiction and I never, ever imagined to see anything like it in my lifetime. To borrow a catch-phrase, "You've come a long way, baby!". Second, I bought the DDE and had no trouble with charges or entering my code. Again, good job!

I just got a new computer for Christmas and also just renewed my membership, I am VERY frustrated. I now have windows 7 and the playing screen is much smaller than my old computer, some of the games I even have trouble seeing, and Clues Secrets games cuts off the bottom of the picture so you can't even see some of the hidden objects. I was going to buy gems to play more of this game but why bother since I can't even see all of the screen. I did an onlline search last night and discovered that other people have been having the same problem and these comments were posted 9 month ago!!!! Any idea when then problem is going to be solved, and thinking of cancelling my renewal if I can't even play some of the games and/or the rest are so small you can't see them. I did change the resolution as some suggested but that still didn't help with the Clue game and I shouldn't have to do that anyway. Is someone at Pogo working on that problem? Everyone with Windows 7 is having that problem.
