Shadow of Revan features a bunch of new content, including:

  • Five new levels of story-driven missions
  • An increased level cap of 60
  • High-level multiplayer challenges like Flashpoints and Operations to join with friends

And if you preorder, there’s a lot of other stuff you can score. Players who pre-order by November 2, 2014 will receive:

  • One week of Early Access to Shadow of Revan starting December 2
  • Exclusive Grand Statue of Revan to display in Player Strongholds

Want more SWTOR? We sat down with Charles Boyd, Lead Writer, Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ to learn about the team behind the game.

What’s the most fun aspect of working on a Star Wars™ title for you?

It’s an opportunity to tell stories in my favorite fictional world of all time!

Can you tell us a bit about your role in the SWTOR team?

As the Lead Writer, I’m responsible for overseeing the game’s storyline and continuity. The main element of my job is dialogue writing: planning and constructing the interactive conversations that drive The Old Republic’s story. But given how much story ties into everything we release, I also spend a lot of time working with every other team on the project to help design, implement, and review anything from art to audio to marketing materials with an eye to how they portray or contribute to our overall narrative.

Tell us more about Revan. How does that character plug into the Star Wars universe?

Revan is a quintessential Star Wars character. His struggle with the Light Side and the Dark Side embodies the heart of Star Wars storytelling, and makes him very relatable and intriguing for fans.

Can you tell us a little bit about creating the story for Revan and where your inspiration came from?

I’m a huge Knights of the Old Republic fan, so I tried to look back to the most core elements of Revan’s history to try to develop a story that would reflect those elements as meaningfully as possible.

How does the SWTOR team take into account feedback from players?

I check out the forums, reddit, twitter, and many other outlets every day to see what folks are saying about the game and what features or story elements are grabbing their interest. I take all feedback to heart as I develop new content and consider the kinds of characters and choices that have resonated with our fans.

What is the process like for developing new characters for a game like SWTOR?

For me, creating characters is all about personality, figuring out what motivates, amuses, or angers them. While there are occasionally game-specific concerns – how do they fight in combat, etc – finding their “voice” in conversation and making them relatable to the players always comes first.
