Multiplayer Confirmed For Mass Effect 3

It used to be just you, Shepard, and a team of scrappy NPCs against the galaxy, but BioWare’s third installment of Mass Effect is finally widening the interstellar playing field. When Mass Effect 3 launches on March 6, 2012, an optional multiplayer mode called Galaxy at War will launch along with it.

Featuring four-player cooperative gameplay, the Galaxy at War multiplayer feature puts players in the role of a team of elite Special Forces soldiers, sent to protect resources and assets vital to the anti-Reaper war effort. Players will be able to choose between six classes and six unique races in this mode, including Human, Krogan, Asari, Drell, Salarian, and Turian.

As a bonus, progress made in the Galaxy at War multiplayer mode will also link back to your single player campaign, making it easier to take down those evil alien Reapers.

BioWare also announced today that gamers who purchase Battlefield 3 and activate their Battlefield 3 Online Pass will be granted early access to the multiplayer portion of the Mass Effect 3 demo. The developer will be announcing additional ways for Shepard-loving fans to gain early access to multiplayer in the coming months, so you may want to keep your eyes open.

Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer feature can be activated via the Online Pass found in every new copy of Mass Effect 3, or by purchasing an Online Pass separately. Pre-order Mass Effect 3 today on Origin, to score three unique bonus items: an N7 Arsenal Pack, a Robotic Dog, and a stylish Squadmate Alternate Outfit Pack.

NO! Dear EA, I know and realize that multiplayer sells, but BioWare would not have added this feature if you weren't hounding them so much for a multiplayer experience. It couldn't have waited until ME3 was released for a new story to tell? So, please remove this feature from a game that I do not want spoiled by multiplayer. Sincerely, Disgruntled Fan

Do you think multiplayer had a negative effect on Deadspace 2?

I'm a a hardcore DA fan and I would welcome the chance to play with other Humans completing quests as opposed to my pre-designated party with pre-designated tactics(which are great also) but hey I could control 2 characters and play with 2 others, whatever.. Would be cool I feel. Haven't played Mass Effect yet but I think I'll start here.

You havent played mass effect???? Do yourself a favor and go get it, take a few days off, and you wont want to come back to earth. ME is an amazing experience and almost worth waiting for the 3rd so you can go straight through.

If they keep the co-op/SinglePlayer campaigns separate I see no problem with this. The guy freaking out up there just wants it taken off because he is one of those guys who has no one on his friends list. Let alone anyone who played ME 1 or 2.

Hey sledgehammer don't bash the guy because he's concerned the overall quality of the game will be hurt by adding multi it's a valid concern from an audience who is looking for an EPIC conclusion to an amazing trilogy, I don't think anyone wants to feel like the story was cut short or there were loose ends left in the story just to have multi added (as we all know EVERY developer works on a budget so for every piece of content added it is added up and subtracted from the total budget for the title), that being said myanreuller if you own Mass Effect 1&2 then you should know that Bioware can deliver on a massive scale and they along with EA have huge resources available to make an amazing game I don't think either of these companies would sell themselves short on this game at all

I played both Deadspace titles and I dont feel that multiplayer hurt the experience at all. Different developers, I know, but it has been done by this publisher. I have my concerns and I feel those that voice them are valid in doing so. This is a beloved franchise, like most Bioware titles, and fans dont want to see their experience watered down

Just make it AWESOME and all is good i.e., Don't do a Thor (I know totally different game, but Sucky is Sucky and I don't want Sucky ME Ending!)

i can tell given the amount of detail EA have released that multiplayer in mass effect 3 is not a good idea. Bioware make single player games they have no experience in multiplayer which means it will suck basically, i mean come on galaxy at war it sounds like a terrible version of horde on GOW. Do not make this mistake bioware. Do not end such a great franchise in such a bad way.
