    >

When skate. first dropped into the scene, it pushed the genre forward by blending style and skill with an authentic reflection of skating culture like never before. It innovated with physics-based controls, allowing users to mimic the actual motion and finesse. And it captured the attitudes, culture, and challenges of real-world skateboarding.

This foundation quickly grew into a beloved franchise enjoyed by millions of players and fans across the world. And now, after 15 years since the last installment, the newest entry is available here in Early Access on PlayStation® 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation® 4, Xbox One, PC via Steam, Epic Games Store and EA App. The game is free-to-play*, fully cross-platform with cross-progression support**, making it easy for both longtime fans and new skaters to jump in and ride together.

With heart and innovation at its core, Full Circle is ready for players to experience full freedom in the online multiplayer world of San Vansterdam, and along with it, help shape the future skate. and its community.

“Preserving that magic meant keeping Flick-It controls, which connects skater and board, and opens up the world with every trick available from day one.”

    Building on a strong foundation

Ask anyone who’s poured their heart into skate., and they’ll highlight one thing that brings everyone together: the unique way the game connects player and board. At the center of this connection is the signature “Flick-It” control scheme —celebrated as a genre staple and the foundation for creative expression on wheels.

“Preserving that magic meant keeping Flick-It controls, which connects skater and board, and opens up the world with every trick available from day one,” said Deran Chung, Senior Creative Director at Full Circle. “John Lawlor (Head of Technology at Full Circle), was central to porting Flick-It. He transitioned the original codebase into Frostbite™, and then we got to enhancing it with new features like expanded trick possibilities.”

But why is Flick-It so beloved?

“It offers a unique, tactile, and physical connection from player to character,” said Jeff Seamster, Head of Creative at Full Circle. “It makes play feel real. You’re in control, riding every line and pulling off tricks. That connection is paramount to everything skate. is about.”

Mike McCartney, Executive Producer at Full Circle, echoes this.

“Flick-It provides a one-to-one translation of player input into character actions in a way that feels fantastic,” said Mike. “It’s the best.”

“We’ve added more depth—vertical movement and new abilities mean everyone can push their expression further.”

“Drop In” to the new San Vansterdam

This new era of skate. is about playful discovery, letting imagination run wild across San Vansterdam. Tricks and possibilities are boundless, whether you are sessioning a ledge, climbing up a building, flying through the air or scaling city rooftops.

“We’ve added more depth—vertical movement and new abilities give players more ways to have fun and get weird than ever before,” said Deran.

“San Vansterdam is a city built for explorers, with no part off limits and every corner ready for discovery,” said Jeff.

Shaped hand-in-hand with the community, the city features four distinct neighborhoods, each offering its own vibe and unique spots waiting to be discovered. Players are encouraged to carve their own path, setting their own pace as they traverse a world designed for both freedom and surprise. One of the most exciting developments is how vertical exploration and layered environments add fresh depth, ensuring the experience stays dynamic each time you play.

skate. is also breaking new ground by bringing everyone together, across platforms. Session with pals, wherever they play, thanks to full cross-progression and cross-play. The Frostbite engine powers the city, supporting best-in-class physics and beautiful rendering, all set to evolve for years to come.

And the future of skate. is one continuing to be built together with our community of passionate players and fans.

Whether building, sessioning, or dreaming up something new, skate. is fundamentally about coming together, expressing yourself, and having fun.
