EA @ MVMT50 Hackathon

Careers News

#HACKTHEFUTURE

This was the first diversity related hackathon taking place as part of SXSW. The hackathon was held at the Huston-Tillotson University, a historically black college/university in Austin, Texas. Fifty pre-selected High School students were paired with professional mentors to collaborate and build a web or mobile-based app hacking the Education, Health, or Justice sectors.

EA’s Diversity & Inclusion team organized a game lounge for students and provided prize packs to the hackathon winners, including an invitation to tour EA's Austin Studio. EA plans to partner with MVMT50 again next year to sponsor a similar diversity hackathon, which encourages students of diverse background to become engaged in STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) education and develop career paths in these fields.
