Title: Digital Media Buyer

Organization: Marketing

Location: Redwood Shores

Before EA, I was a student at Florida State University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in merchandising and product development. I’ve always been very passionate about digital marketing and intrigued by the e-commerce industry, and I knew that I wanted my first career out of college to teach me all there is about both fields. EA definitely provided me the opportunity I was looking for.

Growing up, video games were a huge part of my life. I obsessed over the Sims and loved playing all kinds of shooter games with my cousins who owned every gaming console you can think of. My love for games and the learning acquired through my studies in college really helped me get my foot in the door at EA, where I’ve worked in franchise merchandising, online marketing, and currently, global media buying.

Outside of work though, I love going to San Francisco Giants baseball games, traveling to the East Coast to visit family and friends, and recently took up voice lessons since I’ve always loved to sing.

When I was a student looking for summer internships, I knew I wanted to work at EA. The company had so many opportunities at the time for students looking to work in the games industry and I was eager to chat with an employee who could connect me to the right people.

After reaching out to a woman who worked at EA who was also part of my merchandising program at Florida State, I was connected to an internship coordinator who referred me for a merchandising specialist role on EA’s Origin Merchandising team. I ended up working for them during summer 2013 and spring 2014.

After completing my internships with the team, I was hired full-time to join them after graduation in May 2014 and it was definitely an offer I couldn’t refuse. I had such a great time working for Origin and I couldn’t wait to move to California to start my career with EA.

Working at EA has been an incredible experience. From the internship program to working for the company full-time, I’ve always felt challenged in the best of ways. I’m constantly meeting and working with talented and passionate people, and I’ve been able to spend time with co-workers who have turned into mentors and some of my closest friends. It’s definitely been a great journey and I can’t wait to see what else EA has in store for me.

For me, I can say without a doubt that the biggest impact has come from EA’s New Graduate program. If it weren’t for EA’s investment in students and upcoming graduates, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to intern with EA twice in a year and get the hands-on work experience that I was looking for. Being part of the Origin team for more than a year was also a huge impact – I have mentors and friends that I can reach out to for career guidance any time and an experience I can say taught me a whole lot about e-commerce and the gaming industry.

If you’re interested in video games, look into EA! It’s a fun atmosphere, you get to work with talented people who are passionate about games, and there are countless of opportunities in all kinds of areas within the company.
