Madden NFL 27 is the FASTEST MADDEN EVER.
For the first time in franchise history on a console, Madden NFL 27 can run above 60 frames per second*. On PlayStation®5 Pro, the new Performance Pro mode targets 100-120 FPS during gameplay. On Nintendo Switch™ 2, Performance mode can deliver 60 FPS gameplay while docked and 40 FPS gameplay in handheld mode.
Why More Frames Matter
Higher frame rates allow your screen to update more frequently. That means smoother animation, clearer motion during fast camera movement, and less time between what happens in the game and what you see on screen.
The additional visual information can help you read a developing play on the screen and make faster, more confident decisions, whether you are following the ball downfield, reacting to a route break, finding a running lane, or tracking a change in possession.
On-field indicators benefit directly, too. The kick meters move with greater fluidity, while the new Timing-Based Catching meter is easier to track as you aim for the green Perfect window before the ball reaches the receiver.
PlayStation 5 Pro: Beyond 60 FPS
Madden NFL 27 includes two graphics modes on PlayStation 5 Pro.
Performance Pro
Performance Pro is an entirely new experience built for players who want Madden at its fastest and smoothest.
Gameplay targets 100-120 FPS, while on-field presentation (including pregame sequences, replays, celebrations, halftime, and other broadcast moments) can also run above 60 FPS.
To make that possible, we combined extensive rendering optimizations with a graphics profile built specifically for high frame rates. Performance Pro also uses Sony’s upgraded PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, or PSSR, to help preserve a sharp, stable image and fine detail in motion while targeting significantly higher performance.
A display supporting both 120 Hz and Variable Refresh Rate, or VRR, is required to experience the full 100-120 FPS range. Make sure 120 Hz output and VRR are supported and enabled on both your PlayStation 5 Pro and your display.
Visual Pro
Visual Pro continues the premium visual and performance experience from previous Madden titles on PlayStation 5 Pro.
Gameplay and on-field presentation both run at 60 FPS, while the mode prioritizes the highest available visual quality.
Nintendo Switch 2: Faster at Home and on the Go
Madden NFL 27 also brings major performance improvements to Nintendo Switch 2.
When docked, Performance mode can deliver 60 FPS gameplay, doubling the gameplay frame rate of Visual mode.
In handheld mode, Performance mode can deliver 40 FPS gameplay. VRR and low frame rate compensation help keep motion smooth and consistent on the Nintendo Switch 2 display.
Docking or undocking the system automatically moves between the 60 FPS and 40 FPS gameplay targets, with no reload required.
We first introduced 40 FPS handheld gameplay through a Madden NFL 26 title update. Madden NFL 27 brings that experience forward at launch and improves it with VRR and low frame rate compensation support, while also expanding Performance mode to deliver 60 FPS gameplay when docked.
On-field presentation remains at 30 FPS in both docked and handheld play. Visual mode is also available for players who prefer to prioritize image quality, but because of the substantial improvement to gameplay smoothness, Performance mode is the default on Nintendo Switch 2.
Choose Your Experience
Graphics modes are available anywhere you take the field, from Play Now and Online Head-to-Head to Franchise, Madden Ultimate Team™, Superstar, and other experiences with on-field gameplay.
You can adjust your graphics mode either through Pause Menu > Graphics during gameplay or from the main Settings menu. Changes take effect immediately and are saved to your user profile regardless of where you make them.

Visual Pro is the default on PlayStation 5 Pro, while Visual is the default on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Performance is the default on Nintendo Switch 2. Xbox Series S automatically uses a configuration optimized for the platform, so no graphics-mode selection is required.
On-field presentation includes pregame sequences, replays, celebrations, halftime, and other broadcast moments. Cinematics outside the on-field game remain at 30 FPS.
Fine-Tuning Performance on PC
PC players continue to have granular control over their Madden NFL 27 experience, with a dedicated monitor refresh rate setting and frame-rate options for 30 FPS, 60 FPS, 120 FPS, and Uncapped play. Additional configurations allow gameplay to run at 60 or 120 FPS while on-field presentation runs at 30 or 60 FPS, helping players tailor performance to their hardware and display.
