For this week’s AHL Simulation of the Week, we are in Providence, Rhode Island as the Bruins welcome the Springfield Falcons to town. With Springfield currently holding onto the 2nd seed in the Eastern Conference and Providence sitting a point back in 3rd, a victory for either side could help solidify longer home-ice advantage in the playoffs. Also, in the case of the Bruins, who have the Portland Pirates close on their tails for the Atlantic Division title, this game is even more important. The Springfield Falcons and Providence Bruins play tonight, game time is 7:05 Eastern.

In another close contest, the Bruins managed to scrape out a 1-0 victory against the Falcons. The only goal of the night came early in the first period when Chris Bourque scored after getting the rebound of a Matt Bartkowski shot. While the Falcons tried desperately to get something past goalie Michael Hutchinson, the strong performance of his fellow defenders helped him record a shut-out.

Behind his 37-save performance, Hutchinson was named the game’s First Star. The Second Star would be Bourque while Matt Bartkowski earned Third Star honors thanks to his shot that led to the game-winning goal.
