Three girls were selected to visit The Sims Studio and get an inside look at how video games are made.

In addition to creating amazing games for our players, we are dedicated to creating experiences that foster a culture of inclusion and unlock opportunities for the next generation of gamers.  That’s why we’re so excited that Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls teamed up with The Sims!

Founded by artist Amy Poehler and producer Meredith Walker, Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls is dedicated to helping young people become their true selves with an emphasis on intelligence and imagination. Three girls were selected to visit The Sims Studio and get an inside look at how video games are made.

Catch up with Part One here.

Tcarla knows how playing guitar can transport her to another place.

And something similar happens for those who love playing video games like The Sims 4.

Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls gave Tcarla the chance to meet up with Jill Johnson, Associate Producer and Marielle Jakobsons, Audio Artist for The Sims 4, to learn more about how audio is added to games.

Tcarla found a natural fit with Jakobsons, who has been playing music since she was three years old.

“I started making instruments with rubber bands and shoeboxes,” she says.

Over time, she realized how impactful music can be. “There are so many ways to play a single phrase, and even small or subtle changes can really alter the way it makes you feel,” says Jakobsons.

The team built an Artists’ Club for Tcarla to explore, and she even played her guitar for the team.

“It was great to sit down and chat with her between takes,” says Johnson. “I was already so drawn to her peppy energy.”

Have a look what it was like when TCarla visited The Sims with Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls!
