Three girls were selected to visit The Sims Studio and get an inside look at how video games are made.

In addition to creating amazing games for our players, we are dedicated to creating experiences that foster a culture of inclusion and unlock opportunities for the next generation of gamers.  That’s why we’re so excited that Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls teamed up with The Sims!

Founded by artist Amy Poehler and producer Meredith Walker, Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls is dedicated to helping young people become their true selves with an emphasis on intelligence and imagination. Three girls were selected to visit The Sims Studio and get an inside look at how video games are made.

Catch up with Part 1 and Part 2.

Amisha loves traveling all over the world and documenting her adventures with photos.

That rush of exploration also happens for lots of our players who love The Sims 4.

Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls gave Amisha the chance to meet up with Lyndsay Pearson, Senior Producer and John Estes, Craft Director for The Sims 4, to learn how photography is used in the game.

The team showed Amisha some concept art for The Sims 4 Get Together to give her a taste of how art drives game design.

“When I was showing her some of the work stations she was very interested in the equipment we use to create The Sims 4 art assets,” says Estes. “She was surprised at the amount of drawing and painting we did.”

Amisha was thrilled to find out that creativity matters as much to game design as technical expertise.

“Both artists and engineers work in concert with designers and producers, it’s all a very collaborative process,” says Estes.

Amisha’s energy rubbed off on everyone she met at the studio. The team gave her a look at what it was like to build a studio in the game where she could display photos taken by her Sim.

“It was wonderful to have a glimpse into that enthusiasm,” says Pearson. “Amisha was so excited and passionate about the world around her and exploring it.”

Looking at the game through a photographer’s eye helped Amisha stand out.

“She loved the special poster we put in game for the Smart Girls organization, she appreciated the little flowers the artists had crafted to decorate a room or the sailboats out in the distance,” says Pearson. “She has a great eye for detail.”

Have a look at what it was like for Amisha to visit The Sims 4 with Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls!
