EA SPORTS set out to find who the best FIFA Soccer 12 gamer is at Arsenal when the Dugout visited the club's training ground last week.
English midfielder and UK cover star of FIFA 12 Jack Wilshere was joined by Theo Wallcott, Wojciech Szczesny and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the battle for club bragging rights and a shiny EA SPORTS trophy to boot.
The draw pitted Jack vs Alex in the first semi final followed by Theo vs Wojciech. The banter was intense as the mind games started early with Wojciech demonstrating his ambition to score with himself as keeper in a warm up game!
So to the first semi final and after a very quick start Wilshere scored two early goals playing as Barcelona against Alex's Real Madrid. Alex quickly got back into the game with a lovely passage of play and was soon up and about as he levelled the game. But Jack's superior FIFA skills and experience saw him through comfortably in the end - final score 4:2.
'It was fixed, I think because he was on the cover there's some sort of cheat going on because some of the goals he was scoring were rediculous!', said Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The second semi final saw Walcott staying true to his club and playing as Arsenal again Szczesny's AC Milan. The game didn't go to play for Wojciech with theo scoring early and late to round out a solid 3-0 victory. The highlight being Theo scoring with himself!
So to the all important final and Jack vs Theo... two keen FIFA gamers who usually play together - facing off for the trophy.
Jack looked like having an easy game after two early goals before Theo started utilising his pace up front in a 4-4-2 formation next to Robin Van Persie. And RVP came up with the goods gaining a goal back before Jack scored to go 3-1 ahead. Theo kept up the pressure pulling another goal back through RVP and with only extra time to go, Theo drove into the box and went down, cries for a penalty but it wasn't given!
Amazing late drama and Jack Wilshere was crowned the first EA SPORTS Pro Player Tournament winner. Check out the video below!
Jack was very happy after the match tweeting ''FIFA 12 King today! Sorry Chambo, Szczesny and Theo, who I beat in the final. Undefeated King!''.
Theo Walcott, speaking to EA SPORTS after the match said, ''He's had the luck of the draw then, hopefully we can have a rematch and I can teach him a lesson!''
Wojciech Szczesny was humbled at the end saying, ''I got a little bit of stick from him but I'll take that, I'm big enough to give it so I'm big enough to take it.''
So congratulations to Jack Wilshere, the innaugural winner of the EA SPORTS Pro Player Tournament. Check out the Video above and click below on the photo to view a special slide show on our Flickr channel.
