80s-era films taught us several vital truths: (1) There’s no hero like an anti-hero, (2) Prom is the most important night of your life, bar none, and (3) You’re not really a musician until you win a Battle of the Bands. That’s why this weekend, we’re bringing Big Boi, Megadeth, Korn, and Mickey Factz to the Battlefield to fight for the ultimate in musical – and military – supremacy.
Unlike in a traditional Battle of the Bands, our song-slinging heroes won’t be taking the stage alone. In fact, they won’t be taking the stage at all. Instead, they’ll be facing off in a few heated rounds of Battlefield 3 alongside lucky gamers like you, with public matches taking place on the classic multi-player map, “Strike at Karkand.” Side up with either the Metal or Hip Hop Platoon to show your allegiance, then blast the competition into a shallow Karkand grave.
DICE and EA's Metal vs. Hip Hop Challenge kicks off at 10:00 a.m. PST on Saturday, January 7, with Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine and OutKast’s Big Boi bringing the pain. Then, join us again on Sunday, January 8 at 10:00 a.m. PST as Korn’s Jonathan Davis trades bullets with hip hop artist Mickey Factz.
In order to participate in the Metal vs. Hip Hop Challenge, you’ll need to become a fan of your chosen Platoon (Metal or Hip Hop) via Battlelog. You can also create your own metal or hip hop Platoon to support the war, but you’ll need to create it before January 31, 2012 in order to get credit. Get all the information on how to join on The Battlefield Blog.
Still need to pick up your copy of Battlefield 3? Order it on Origin for $59.99, then get the Back to Karkand expansion for just $14.99 more.
