DICE Explains Battlefield 3 Controversy

2011-06-16

In recent days there’s been a lot of chatter across the web about the Battlefield 3 pre-order offer currently available on EA’s new Origin platform and other select retailers. Some have expressed concern that those who pre-ordered the game would have exclusive access to the Physical Warfare Pack and that this would provide an unfair advantage.

Today Karl Magnus Troedsson, the General Manager of DICE, posted an explanation to the Battlefield Blog.

The bottom line: All Battlefield 3 players will have access to the Physical Warfare Pack later this year – for free! Players who pre-order the game will enjoy these added features immediately and will have exclusive access to the pack’s content for a limited period of time.

The Back to Karkand map pack, a set of the best maps from past Battlefield games, is also a free pre-order bonus but it will be available to all Battlefield players on day one as DLC.

For more details and a full explanation, Battlefield’s blog lays it all out.
