Football Club: Shock Relegations And A New Challenge

Alistair Reid

2011-10-04

News of the first season in EA SPORTS Football Club and a new challenge.

Our first season of EA SPORTS Football Club is over and it has thrown up some huge casualties as Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal were relegated to the npower Championship.

How has this happened, we hear you splutter over your PC/iPad/Fancy mobile device? Well, a week equals a season in EAS FC land and it seems the fans of Man Utd, Chelsea and the Gunners just weren’t quick enough off the mark to keep their clubs in the top flight.

When you pop FIFA 12 into the drive you’re supporting your chosen club in-game, no matter who you play as. You earn XP in FIFA playing in any mode and as any team – all of which contribute to the overall XP of *your* club. Each day the total XP earned for your club is divided by the total number of supporters and at the end of the season, just like in real life, the bottom three go down and are replaced by eager new beavers from the lower tier. (Read Producer Matt Lafreniere’s introductory blog on EA SPORTS Football Club).

For Man Utd we’re currently tracking 241,948 fans, Chelsea 96,488 and Arsenal clock in with 131,200… but it seems those fans aren’t pulling in the XP like others, so it’s down to the Championship for that big three. Will they bounce straight back up?

One way of earning XP and pushing your club up the table is through our regular EAS FC Challenges. This week we’re focusing on Juventus vs. Milan:

The Challenge: Dethrone the Italian Champs

The Scenario: Juventus have been awarded a free kick from a dangerous position. Can you score the lead and take out the reigning champions?

Difficulty: Professional (the first Professional Challenge!)

Challenge starts: Tuesday 4 October 18:00 GMT; 11:00 PDT

Challenge ends: Wednesday 5 October 23:59 GMT; 16:59 PDT

Can you get the win for La Vecchia Signor (that’s ‘The Old Lady’ in Italian. We think) and snag those all-important XP for your team?
