Under the Hood #1

Welcome to the very first edition of Under the Hood, your regular behind the scenes look at all things Need for Speed. In this edition, we will be talking about some of your feedback we’ve received since launch and also give an overview of what you can expect in the game update.

Last week was an incredibly proud moment for us at Ghost Games as we ushered in a new era for Need for Speed. However, this is only the start of the journey.

Before we discuss the future we wanted to take a few moments to say… thank you. You, the fans, have been very supportive of what we’re doing here, and the amount of positivity and feedback we’ve received since the announce has driven us on to create the best Need for Speed experience possible.

The future of Need for Speed is as much in your hands as it is ours, so please do keep the feedback coming. We’re deeply committed to creating not only the game that you, our players want, but the game you deserve.

We are incredibly excited about what we’re calling the Living Game where we’ll be releasing updates to the game. We’ll be expanding on your Need for Speed experience with brand new content, improvements, and fixes - all of which starts in just a few weeks with our first update.

We have been reading your feedback over the launch period, alongside media reviews and taking stock. One of the big talking points that we’ve seen has been ‘rubber banding’ or ‘AI Catchup’. Taking this feedback on board, the work is already underway to balance the AI, and this will be live alongside the first Living Game update.

Last week we pushed live a fix that looked to address the stutter players on Xbox One were experiencing. Early reports are looking good with a number of players now reporting that the stutter is a thing of the past, but we will as always, continue to monitor.

Our first Living Game update is due to arrive before the end of November and below you’ll find an overview of what will be included.

  • More balanced ‘AI Catch Up’
  • New Wrap Editor features; Mirror functionality and improved Color Picker
  • Hoonicorn and Morohoshi-San Diablo are now available and gifted upon completion of the respective narrative threads
  • First look at neons on Morohoshi-San's Diablo
  • REP increase 50-60
  • 3x Trophies & Achievements
  • New daily challenges
  • x30 new pre-set wraps
  • General bugs, tweaks and improvements

This is just the beginning and we look forward to what the future holds for Need for Speed.
