New Ways to Put Players and Parents in Control of Their Gaming

Play should always be fun, so we're amping up the information and tools to help you play on your terms. Back in June, we rolled out the Positive Play Charter - an updated set of community guidelines designed to make our games and services more inclusive, safe, balanced and fair. This is another step we’re taking to make play more positive.

Centralized Positive Play Resources for Parents

If you’re a parent and don’t know where to start, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve tried to put everything you need to know all into one resource, so you can figure out how to use the tools and controls available on video game platforms. You’ll learn how to create household or family accounts on every major device to get more visibility and control over:

  • Time Spent Playing
  • Spending
  • Social Communication
  • Access to Games by Rating

Once you’ve set up your preferences, the next step is to figure out what games are right for your kids. We’ve provided information on the video game rating systems so you feel like you can make informed decisions about the games they play, and find EA games that work for them (and you!). Learn more here.

Tools that Give You Control Over How You Play

Now that you know about tools and controls on game platforms, what else is there to shape play in game? FIFA Playtime is the first feature launched in an EA game that helps you better understand and choose how you want to play FIFA 21. FIFA Playtime gives you an overview of the amount of time you’ve spent in FIFA 21 and lets you set limits on how you play. You’ll be able to choose how many matches you can jump into, the amount of FIFA Points you purchase and the number of FUT Packs opened with FUT Coins or purchased with FIFA Points.

The integration of both tracking and limits in FIFA Playtime is grounded in research that shows that having access to more information helps players feel comfortable with how they play. When combined with smart prompts to guide choices, players were able to better find a comfortable balance in their gaming. We will continue to evolve and adapt these tools and resources to give you even more ways to shape your gaming experience. Learn more about FIFA Playtime here.

Resources for Peace of Mind

We built these tools with you in mind to give more transparency and control over your experience. These are two steps in a long term initiative, and there will always be more work to do. We want to continue leading the way with helpful solutions. Our hope is that we make it easier to remove barriers, so you can get to the fun faster and to make play positive.
