Welcome to the relaunch of EA SPORTS Football

Football World

2010-08-31

The New EASPORTSFootball.com What’s new? Welcome to the new EA SPORTS Football website, the official place on the web to get all your FIFA 11 news and access the web-based features that really enhance your FIFA gaming experience.

So what’s new?

We have merged the product marketing site, formerly found at http://fifa.easports.com, and Football World (http://easportsfootball.com) to provide a single site that works to put everything you want in one place.

EASPORTSFootball.com is now the place to get all the core information about the game, such key features, screenshots and trailers. But once you log in you’ll be able to access all the community content and Web-To-Game features that were previously accessible through Football World.

We have also increased the number of languages we support. In addition to supporting French, German and UK-based FIFA fans, we’re now also providing for those in Spain, Italy, Poland, Russia, the Netherlands and the US.

Getting Started

If you have not done so already set up your unique EA SPORTS account by selecting the ‘Join EA SPORTS Football’ link at the top right of your screen. Once a member you’ll get all the great benefits outlined below. On completion of your account set up ‘Sign in’!

You now have the ability to create or update your existing Profile online. Just to give you an idea of what’s required to complete your profile you will be asked to give the following information:

  • Your name
  • Home Town
  • Favourite FIFA title
  • Player Style
  • Gender
  • Country
  • Spoken Language
  • Time Zone
  • List of up to 5 of your friends

Then, bring your Profile to life by creating your own personalised 3D avatar in GameFace.

What can you do on the new EA SPORTS Football site?

  • Find out about all the football games currently available from EA from the Games page.
  • View your own personal history for each game in the FIFA series based on your previous online stats.
  • Keep up to date with the latest news, videos, screenshots, podcasts and blogs created by the team at EA from the News and Media section of the site.
  • Access your profile information (including Game Face), personal stats and uploaded videos/images in My Player Hub.
  • Mange your squads and trade players online in the FIFA Ultimate Team Web App.
  • Enter your best goal replays for a chance to win big in the Goal of the Week Video Competition
  • Track your performances and teammates in the Pro Club Championship [LINK]
  • Access the all-new Creation Centre to create your very own players and teams to use in the game and share with your friends.
  • Join in the conversation in the hugely active FIFA 11 forum, where you can find football banter, tips and advice from some of the best FIFA players in the world, and the best place to provide your ideas and feedback direct to the guys behind the game.

Still in development

This is the first release of the new site and is still very much a work in progress. As you browse around the site you may notice that some of the features retain their old look and feel while we continue to migrate all the existing features over to the new site. This will happen over the next few months but we’ve decided to roll things out gradually to make sure you can access cool new features like Creation Centre as early as possible as you prepare for getting your hands on FIFA 11.

What’s still to come?

Quite a lot! There will be regular updates to the site as we iron out some of the wrinkles inherent in launching a new site, but some of the major features that will be coming to the site in the next few weeks are:

  • New logged-in home page: See all the updates from you and your friends’ activity either in the game or on the website.
  • My Game Data: This will replace My Player Hub and will include Friends Leaderboards, Player Stats Comparisons and much improved stats data visualisation.
  • Targeted Tips and Tricks videos: Handy hints in video form, selected for you based on your performance in the game.
  • Facebook integration: Import your friends from Facebook, plus the ability to post certain game and EA SPORTS Football events to your own Facebook wall.
  • Find and challenge an opponent: Find your mates – or strangers! – and take them on! Includes a personalised calendar to help you schedule those important games between you and your mates.

That’s a high-level overview of what we’ve got planned, but as we forge ahead it would be great to get your feedback on any of the site features and where you would like to see improvements or enhancements to the site.

We probably won’t be able to deliver everything you suggest, but we do want the site to be developed organically, based on what YOU want to see. Your feedback is key to us delivering a site that provides you with the best possible extension to the FIFA gaming experience.

I’ll be updating this blog on a regular basis to keep you updated with the site developments, so please reply here with your feedback and suggestions for how we can improve the site.

Thanks,

Andy
