Not too long ago, there was this top five Madden 19 O-line article that was basically a Dallas Cowboys fluff piece, because their offensive linemen are just so absurdly good. Well, this isn’t that. Instead, the shift moves over to DUUUVAL county!
The Jacksonville Jaguars feature the most complete defensive unit in Madden 19. The stamp on that are the top two guys on this list. One factor to note here is Player Archetypes. Everyone in the top five fits under the Man-to-Man Archetype, with other skill sets falling just outside the elite list.
So, let’s get right to it with the top five cornerbacks in Madden NFL 19.
1. Jalen Ramsey, Jacksonville Jaguars
The list kicks off with the corner that took the league by storm in his sophomore year. Ramsey quickly became THE cover artist of the NFL, shutting down some of football’s most prolific passers. On top of his 93 Speed, Ramsey carries with him an 81 Hit Power, best among all CBs. Ramsey also has an amazing, and best-in-class, 96 Man Coverage. He’s the top corner in the game, with good reason.
2. A.J. Bouye, Jacksonville Jaguars
New house rule, nobody is allowed to play as the Jags. The two leading corners in the game, backed up by a stacked defensive front. No, sir. I’m in no mood for a beating. Anyway, Bouye isn’t as fast, but is more balanced than his teammate mentioned above. The popular pick in the Madden competitive scene, Bouye has a slightly higher Catch rating of 73 vs. Ramsey’s 71, and scores a 95 in both Zone and Man Coverage.
3. Desmond Trufant, Atlanta Falcons
Not that far from Florida resides the next resident on this list. Trufant is an excellent defensive asset and can handle most WRs in Madden 19. His base ratings are right in line with elite status, with a 92 Man and 93 Zone Coverage. His 97 Agility allows him to break quickly in coverage, and is only matched by one other CB.
4. (Two-way Tie)
Patrick Peterson, Arizona Cardinals
Peterson remains one of the preeminent overall players in Madden. A 93 Speed, 94 in Man and Zone Coverage, and a best-in-class 81 Catch make Peterson an ideal User Lurk candidate. Peterson is unique as he’s an excellent kick returner to boot, and has a 95 Ball Carrier Vision, 87 Spin, and 92 Juke. If you pull an INT with Peterson, he has the shiftiness to take it to the house if your stick skills are up to task.
Xavier Rhodes, Minnesota Vikings
Excellent in Man Coverage with a 95 rating, Rhodes is a premier corner with Catch numbers only beaten by Peterson. His Speed is a hair slower than the others on this list, but he makes up for it with a 96 Jump to easily bat away lobs.
Rounding out the CBs in the 90+ OVR category are Casey Hayward Jr. (91), Darius Slay Jr. (91), Richard Sherman (90), and Marshon Lattimore (90). Hayward and Slay are the top two Zone CB Player Archetypes. Chris Harris Jr., with an 88 OVR, comes into Madden 19 as the top Slot Archetype.
