EA Launches “Play to Learn” Digital Education Initiative

Today we’re excited to share that we have launched a new digital education initiative we’re calling Play to Learn.

EA Joins the OpenAI Universe Initiative

At EA, we’re committed to developing the next generation of leaders by investing in science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) education and today we’re excited to share that we have launched a new digital education initiative we’re calling Play to Learn.

Developed in partnership with EverFi, Play to Learn offers online gaming and engaging simulations for middle and high school students to engage them on a number of topics including binary numbers, scientific notation, the Pythagorean Theorum, probability and basic coding language. The course modules are designed to reinforce real-world application of these skills, while getting students interested and excited in new career fields. Through Play to Learn, these programs will be used in the classroom to supplement curriculum.

We are kicking off our Play to Learn program at our EA Tiburon studio in Orlando today, inviting students in for a studio tour to see what it’s like when STEAM education is applied to build videogames. Play to Learn is launching in 10 schools in the Orlando area this month and then will expand to Los Angeles, Austin, the Bay Area and Vancouver later this year to reach a total of 80 schools.

“It’s incredibly important for students to not only learn technology skills, but also to envision their future career opportunities in technology,” said Electronic Arts Senior Vice President Matt Bilbey.  “We are proud to bring this needed education to students in a fun, engaging, and game-oriented learning environment.”
